Walk Your Plans

Before You Build: Walking Through Your Future Home with Six Walls and Walk Your Plans Seattle

There is a moment in every remodel or new build where a floor plan stops being a drawing and starts to become a home. But for most clients, that moment doesn’t arrive until framing is up and it’s far too late to change course. New home construction projects average roughly $150,000 in cost overruns and 10% schedule delays, often because a hallway feels narrower than expected or a kitchen island doesn’t leave enough room to breathe. At Six Walls, we believe that gap between plan and reality shouldn’t exist. So recently, we brought one of our clients to Walk Your Plans Seattle to help close that gap.

A Design Studio Built on Trust

For over two decades, Six Walls has approached interior design as a relationship, not a transaction. Our Seattle and Denver staff give clients hands-on access to a full materials library, textiles, tile, flooring, and finishes. So, decisions are made with fingertips as much as eyes. It is an approach rooted in openness, trust, and creative exploration, and it’s earned us multiple Best of Houzz awards and a client base that keeps coming back, project after project. We don’t just want to design a room; we want to get it right the first time, together with the people who will live in it.

That same philosophy is what drew us to Walk Your Plans Seattle.

Stepping Inside the Plan Before It’s Built

Walk Your Plans Seattle uses full-scale floor plan projection to turn a set of drawings into a walkable, life-size space. Clients send over their plans in advance, step into the studio, and watch their future home appear on the floor beneath them, true to scale, wall by wall. Instead of imagining whether a primary suite will feel spacious or a great room will flow into the kitchen the way they’d hoped, they can simply walk it and find out.

For our client, that means tracing the exact footprint of the home McCullough Architects and Six Walls has been designing. Pausing in the entry, walking the sightline from the kitchen to the living space, and standing where a custom-built-in will one day catch the afternoon light. It’s the kind of clarity that no rendering or floor plan, however beautiful, can fully deliver.

Design Meets Technology

The pairing of Six Walls’ design expertise with Walk Your Plans’ visualization technology gives clients something rare in the building process: confidence before commitment. Our team can point to where furniture will sit, where a rug will anchor a room, or how natural light will move through a space while the client physically stands inside the plan and feels it for themselves. Problems that might otherwise surface mid-construction, at real cost, get caught and solved on the studio floor instead.

It’s a natural extension of what Six Walls has always tried to do: make design tangible, collaborative, and a little bit magical.
